Annual Events

At the start of the new year, a special goma fire prayer for good health, household safety, traffic safety, good fortune, success in exams, and protection from misfortune throughout the year. Ofuda talismans range from ¥5,000 to ¥30,000. Advance application required; up to 5 people per application.

Every year on June 18, we hold a major Buddhist memorial service attended by our parishioners and devotees. Following the Kannon Service and the Grand Goma Fire Ritual at Hashiri Daikokuten Hall, we conduct the “Jizo Nagashi” ceremony on Lake Chuzenji, in which paper talismans of Jizo Bodhisattva are set afloat on the lake.

Hōjō-e is a ceremony to console the spirits of all living creatures and offer gratitude, while praying for continued prosperity in business and safety within the home.

A traditional event tracing the sacred sites of Priest Shodo, who opened Nikko, by boat. On Lake Chuzenji, participants retrace the ascetic path he carved out, viewed from the water. A special experience reflecting on over 1,200 years of history amid views of Mt. Nantai and Chuzenji.

A stone statue of Yakushi Nyorai stands inside this cave, said to enshrine the remains of the priest Shōdō Shōnin.

Shizu Onba-son is revered as the wet-nurse deity of Mt. Tarō, who presides over Batō Kannon (the Horse-Headed Kannon). For many years, local women have prayed here for safe childbirth and their children's wellbeing. Rinnō-ji revived this long-lapsed tradition in 2017, and a memorial service is now held here each year at this time.

A gathering in which participants deepen their faith and accumulate merit by reading Buddhist sutras aloud, following the Buddha's teachings. Held on the 18th of every month, the sacred day associated with Kannon.
